Copperberry

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This big fruit tree grows up to 23 feet (7.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 48 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, crooked trunk covered in knobbly, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the hard wood is copper-coloured.

The sparse amount of branches are very short and thin and are covered with large amounts of small, needle-like leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are grey on the sides and white at the center.

In early spring, it produces many balls of small, yellow blossoms with long, tapering petals. They are very delicate and have a fairly strong scent that smells like mint.

In mid-summer it produces large, cuboid fruit. The leathery cyan skin is thick and spicy, and the crunchy grey flesh is sweet and sticky. The red seed is tiny and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.

The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
