Clinging Crimsonfern

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 70 years. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has many slender, straight stems covered in very thick, smooth, light brown bark, and the wood inside is copper-coloured.

The branches are short stubs with thousands of twigs that and are covered with handfuls of tiny, thick, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either vibrant orange, or sky blue with crimson patches, sturdy and rough.

In late spring it produces hundreds of giant, crimson flowers with sickle shaped petals. They detach easily and have a faint scent that smells like blood.
