Amberberry

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This short fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 53 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, crooked trunk covered in very thick, rough, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the very dense wood is pale yellow.

The numerous branches are short stubs and are covered with thick bunches of huge, thin leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are white at the bottom and amber with light blue dots at the top.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of tiny, lilac blossoms with 4 pointed petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a mildly strong scent that smells like coconut.

In late summer it produces tiny, triangular fruit. The leathery slate skin is thick and edible when cooked; it is sweet, and the soft turquoise flesh is sweet and syrupy. The blood red seeds are tiny and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

The stems are covered in large spikes.
