Lilac

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 152 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has several flexible, straight stems covered in thick, waxy, light brown bark, and the wood inside is black.

The branches trail down towards the ground with thousands of twigs that and are covered with handfuls of small, spear shaped, leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are solid lilac with orange splotches, flexible and smooth.

It produces hundreds of small, caramel flowers with broad, flat petals with a tube-like floral cup. They detach easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like a newborn baby. In late winter it forms giantblack, shelled seeds.
