Burgundy Vine

It takes 2 years for the burgundy stems to mature, by which point they can have a diameter of 4 inches (10 cm) and remain soft and fleshy.
The cylindrical, leathery leaves reach up to 1.0 foot (30 cm) in length. They are green and green, and have smooth edges.
During late spring, the vine produces a thick sheet of small pink flowers.
It is slightly resistant to fire damage.
The sap is edible and very savoury.
