Crimson Succulent

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This big caudiciform grows up to 19 feet (5.8 meters) tall. The very thin stem is orange, and is covered in sharp spines. The slanted, olive trunk can grow to as much as 19 feet (5.8 meters) in diameter at the top. Its brown branches are short and thin and start growing three quarters of the way up the stem.

The large amounts of tattered-edged, wide leaves are either red, or pink with aquamarine zig-zags. They are light, and do not detach easily.

It is steady-growing, taking 5 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with petals that are violet on the edges and ashy red at the center, grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is made up of 45 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight trumpet. It has a mildly strong scent that smells like mint.

The caudiciform's skin is very thick, the red flesh is rough, and the magenta sap is thin.

It coexists peacefully with other plants.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
The leaves are bland but very healthy.
