Copperfern
Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in its stem)This modest-sized tree grows up to 53 meters (173.9 feet) tall and lives for over 2,000 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 2576 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a narrow, straight trunk covered in thick, silky, gray bark, and inside, the very light wood is light brown.
The tangled mess of branches are short, rigid and upright, with thousands of twigs covered with copious amounts of small, copper needles. The needles themselves are light.
In late summer it produces small, cream, shelled seeds.
The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
It comes in 10 varieties, each with a different leaf colour.
The trunk and branches are covered in large spikes.
