Amberpetal

Flower type: Annual (Stores water in its leaves)

This small flower grows up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. Its red stem is very thick and straight with a curved tip, and the miniature, emerald leaves are thick with smooth edges. A pair of leaves grow at the base of the stem.

Each stem splits 6 to 11 times; a single tiny flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 12 cm (4.7 inches) wide, with petals that are either amber or indigo, with a yellow center. The flower head is shaped like a cube made up of dozens of widely spaced, round-tipped petals. They fall easily.

It has a delicate scent that smells like glue, and it has lots of pollen, but it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind, but is also particularly attractive to insects.
