Blue Spine Caudex

This large caudiciform grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall. The sickle shaped stem is copper, and is covered in hundreds of flexible sky blue spines. The straight, slate trunk can grow to as much as 11 feet (3.4 meters) in diameter at the top. Its emerald branches trail down towards the ground and start growing at the top the stem.

The large amounts of smooth-edged, very thin leaves are white on the sides and slate at the center. They are resilient, but take some effort to detach.

It is slow growing, taking 43 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with solid amber petals decorated with green dots and a brilliant blue central disk grows at the top, reappearing once every 5 years. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 60 curved petals. It has a scent that varies in strength that smells like fish.

The caudiciform's skin is delicate, the ashy yellow flesh is rough, and the grey sap is thin.
