Silverfern

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall and lives for around 16 years. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has several sturdy, twisting stems covered in delicate, silky, gray bark, and the wood inside is mahogany-coloured.

The branches trail down across the ground with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with copious amounts of huge, slender, pointed, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are lime at the bottom and purple with drab green edges at the top, hardy and rough.

It produces several tiny, silver flowers with broad, flat petals. They fall easily and have a weak scent that smells like roses. In late autumn it forms medium-sizedgreen, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.
