Copperberry

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 65 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, twisting trunk covered in cracked, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the soft wood is yellow.

The branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with sparse amounts of giant, circular leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are green and copper.

In early spring, it produces dozens of giant, turquoise blossoms with spear shaped petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are hardy and have an overpowering scent that smells like honeysuckle.

In early winter it produces , fan-like fruit. The hairy amber skin is delicate and inedible, and the slightly crunchy green flesh is bitter and spicy and very juicy. The lime seeds are large and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.
