Crimson Creeper

Climbing plant type: Creeper (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This modest-sized creeper is a steady-growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 30 feet (9.1 meters) and growing as high as 69 feet (21.0 meters).

It takes 2 years for the gray stems to mature, by which point they have tangled themselves into thick mats with a diameter of 2 inches (5 cm) and are flat and wavy.

The stiff, pointed, smooth leaves reach up to 1.0 foot (30 cm) in length. They are black on the edges and crimson at the center, and have smooth edges.

During late spring, the creeper produces many clusters of small blue flowers, and during the mid-summer, after flowering, it produces excessive amounts of small fruits.

It grows well in the sun and full shade.
