Bloodvine

This modest-sized flower grows up to 2.0 feet (61 cm) tall. Its silver stem is very thick, and the tiny, lime green leaves are long, tapering with toothed edges. The leaves alternate on the stem.

A single giant flower sits at the end of the stem. The flowers are 21 cm (8.3 inches) wide, with petals that are blood red on the edges and cream at the center. The flower head is made up of 14 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight star. They fall easily.

It has an overpowering scent that smells like garlic, and it has lots of pollen; it can cause severe allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects and is visited by a large variety of them.
