Copper

This short caudiciform grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall. The perforated stem is red, and is dotted with small blood red spines. The thick, lime trunk can grow to as much as 11 feet (3.4 meters) in diameter. Its copper branches are very short, thin and wispy.

The serrated-edged, finger-like leaves are muted yellow at the bottom and turquoise with violet patches at the top. They are light, but do not detach easily.

It is slow growing, taking 47 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with vivid purple petals on the lower layer and pink petals decorated with light brown dots on the inner layer. The central disk is muted yellow, grow at the top, reappearing once every 7 years. The flower head is largely flat with 24 raised round-tipped petals. It has an intense scent that smells like pot-purri.

The caudiciform's skin is thick, the lilac flesh is smooth, and the light brown sap is thin and has hallucinogenic properties.
