Copperflower

This large flower grows up to 6.6 feet (2.0 meters) tall. Its copper stems grow in bunches of 6 and are very thick with a curved tip, and the tiny, burgundy leaves are finger-like with smooth edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

A single small flower sits at the end of each stem. The flowers are 8 cm (3.1 inches) wide, with black petals on the lower layer and indigo petals decorated with orange dots on the inner layer. The central disk is light green. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 45 curved petals. They are very delicate.

It has an overpowering scent that smells like pine needles, and it has a modest amount of pollen; it can cause severe allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator, but is also visited by a variety of insects.
