Caramel Succulent

This small caudiciform grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall. The slender, pointed stem is gray-green, and is dotted with small gold spines. It has a wonky, bulbous, dark brown trunk atop a wide clump of knobbly, exposed roots. The branches are round and burgundy and trail down across the ground.

The smooth-edged, asymmetrical leaves are solid blood red or caramel, with slate lines. They are flimsy, and do not detach easily.

It is very slow growing, taking 21 years to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with each petal a slightly different shade of amber grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a cube with 22 raised, round-tipped petals. It has a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like mango.

The caudiciform's skin is thin, the sky blue flesh is rough, and the violet sap is thin.
