Cyanberry

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 16 feet (4.9 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 48 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in silky, brown bark, and inside, the very hard wood is yellow-brown.

The small bunches of branches are short stubs and are covered with small amounts of large, spear shaped leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are solid cyan or olive, with red edges.

In early spring, it produces many giant, cream blossoms with oval-shaped shaped petals. They detach easily and have an intense scent that smells like onion.

In late autumn it produces small, slender, 5 pointed fruit. The hairy pink skin is tough and inedible, and the soft gentle purple flesh is sweet and juicy. The black seed is small and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.
