Slatevine

This large bine is a steady-growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 345 feet (105.2 meters) and growing as high as 128 feet (39.0 meters).

It takes 4 years for the hazel and slate stems to mature, by which point they can have a diameter of 1.6 feet (48 cm) and are rough and woody.

The stiff, pointed, covered in fine hairs leaves reach up to 2.2 feet (66 cm) in length. They are solid olive or green, with light grey dots, and have smooth edges.

During late spring, the bine produces handfuls of average turquoise flowers, and during the late summer, after flowering, it produces a few small berries.
