Copperleaf

This small leaf succulent grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall. The very narrow, elongated stem is turquoise or aquamarine, and is covered in brittle beige spines. The bubbly leaves are amber on the edges and green at the center. Small bunches of them grow on round, copper branches that are short and thin. The leaves are rigid, and do not detach easily.

It is quick growing, taking 10 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with petals that are blood red on the edges and dark brown at the center, grow at the top, reappearing after 8 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is made up of 40 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight tube. It has a scent that varies in strength that smells like cheese.

The leaf succulent's skin is tough, the silver flesh is rough, and the slate sap is thin.
