Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This large fruit tree grows up to 24 feet (7.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 53 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a wide, straight trunk covered in smooth, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the very dense wood is yellow.
The small handful of branches are short stubs and are covered with thick bunches of large, asymmetrical leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are solid cyan or red, with white streaks.
In early spring, it produces many small, indigo blossoms with pleated petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like cherry.
In late autumn it produces , wide fruit. The fuzzy grey skin is peel-able and spicy, and the crunchy blood red flesh is bitter and juicy. The light grey seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.
The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.
Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
