Crimson Starburst

This short cactus grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall. It splits partway up the body to form 5 finger-like stems. Each stem is red, and is covered in sharp spines. The spherical body is burgundy, and is covered in copious amounts of flexible slate spines.

It is very slow growing, taking 22 years to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with beige petals and a yellow center grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a star with 27 widely spaced, round-tipped petals. It has a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like roses.

The cactus's skin is very thick, the turquoise flesh is smooth, and the blood red sap is thin.
