Copperfern

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and lives for around 99 years. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has several narrow, angular stems covered in cracked, brown bark, and the wood inside is copper-coloured.

The branches are short and thick with thousands of twigs that and are covered with thick bunches of miniature, very narrow and elongated, leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are hazel and cyan, rigid and leathery.

In early summer it produces handfuls of medium-sized, grey flowers with stiff, pointed petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have an overpowering scent that smells like soap.
