Copperfruit

This large fruit tree grows up to 41 feet (12.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 28 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, wonky trunk covered in fine, waxy, brown and grey bark, and inside, the very light wood is black with white speckles.

The abundance of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with handfuls of huge, pleated leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are grey and brown.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of small, red blossoms with triangular shaped petals. They fall easily and have a delicate scent that smells like apple.

In early winter it produces , circular fruit. The crispy copper skin is delicate and inedible, and the slightly crunchy ashy green flesh is sour and oily. The slate seed is small and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
