Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This short fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 50 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, straight trunk covered in paper-thin, cracked, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the hard wood is light brown.

The numerous branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with small bunches of miniature, long, narrow leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are found in sky blue, violet and bronze varieties.

In early spring, it produces a handful of medium-sized, dark red blossoms with asymmetrical petals. They are hardy and have a fairly strong scent that smells like honeysuckle.

In late summer it produces small, long, straight fruit. The crispy cyan skin is tough and edible when boiled; it is bitter and savoury, and the very soft magenta flesh is spicy and syrupy. The dark brown seeds are small and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.

The seeds are toxic to people but not to certain animals.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
