Azure Spike

This small caudiciform grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall. The fan-like stem is green, and is covered in lots of rigid azure spines. The wonky, yellow trunk can grow to as much as 1 foot (30.5 cm) in diameter at the bottom. Its pink-red branches trail down across the ground and start growing at the top the stem.

The large amounts of rounded-edged, perforated leaves are generally blue. They are flimsy, and detach easily.

It is steady-growing, taking 3 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with solid turquoise petals decorated with hazel dots and a indigo central disk grows at the top, reappearing once every 6 years. The flower head is made up of 40 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight trumpet. It has a delicate scent that smells like lavender.

The caudiciform's skin is thin, the azure flesh is waxy, and the bronze sap is thin and can cause blindness if consumed.
