Copperpetal

Flower type: Perennial (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.3 feet (41 cm) tall. Its pink-red stem is thick, and the miniature, copper leaves are dark copper on the underside and are long, tapering with wavy edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

Many medium-sized flowers grow in bunches along the stem. The flowers are 13 cm (5.1 inches) wide, with petals that are cyan in the center, bold yellow in the middle and olive at the edges. The flower head is largely flat with 11 raised narrow petals. They are sturdy.

It has a weak scent that smells like coffee, and it has very little pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator.

It is almost impossible to grow from cuttings.
It comes in 13 varieties, each with a different leaf colour.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
