Copperflower

Flower type: Annual (Stores water in its stem)

This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.8 feet (56 cm) tall. Its emerald stem is thick, and the small, copper leaves are 5 pointed with jagged edges. The leaves alternate on the stem.

Each stem splits 3 to 9 times; a single giant flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 4 cm (1.6 inches) wide, with each petal a slightly different shade of sky blue. The flower head is shaped like a tube made up of dozens of raised, round-tipped petals. They are sturdy.

It has a strong scent that smells like skunk spray, and it has copious amounts of pollen. It is pollinated by the wind, but is enjoyed by several specific types of insect.
