Copperneedle

Flower type: Biennial (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This small flower grows up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. Its gray stems grow in bunches of 5 and are very thick with a curved tip, and the miniature, copper and yellow-green leaves are needle-like with irregular edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

Each stem splits 2 to 5 times; a single tiny flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 3 cm (1.2 inches) wide, with petals that are pink at the sides and slate at the center. The flower head is made up of many petals in raised layers. They are very delicate.

It has a mildly strong scent that smells like cherry, and it has very little pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is enjoyed by several specific types of insect.
