Bluebell

Flower type: Biennial (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This short flower grows up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. Its green stem is wispy, and the miniature, pastel red or green leaves are finger-like with smooth edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

Dozens of tiny flowers grow in bunches along the stem. The flowers are 8 cm (3.1 inches) wide, with blue petals on the lower layer and cream petals decorated with dark brown dots on the inner layer. The central disk is silver. The flower head is made up of handfuls of petals in raised layers. They are sturdy.

It has a faint scent that smells like fermented fruit, and it has a modest amount of pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects and is visited by a large variety of them.

It commonly grows in large patches.
It grows well in the sun and full shade.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
