Prickly Lavender

Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)

This short leaf succulent grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall. The tapering stem is green, and is covered in handfuls of flexible subtle green spines. The wavy-edged, needle-like leaves are a shade of light grey that gradient shifts to purple at the top. Very large amounts of them grow from the base in a symmetrical pattern. The leaves are flimsy, and take some effort to detach.

It is very fast growing, taking 8 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with solid subtle green petals and a crimson central disk, grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a dish made up of 4 tightly layered, round-tipped petals. It has a strong scent that smells like paint.

The leaf succulent's skin is tough, the yellow flesh is soft, and the light brown sap is thin and causes severe cramps if consumed.

It comes in 80 varieties.
