Copperflower
Flower type: Biennial (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This short flower grows up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. Its bold red stem is thick and straight, and the tiny, yellow-green leaves are long, tapering with wavy edges. The leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.
5 to 8 tiny flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 13 cm (5.1 inches) wide, with each petal a slightly different shade of copper. The flower head is made up of handfuls of petals in raised layers. They are hardy.
It has a scent that varies in strength that smells like fish, and it has very little pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird.
