Silvergrass

Grass type: Perennial (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This small, gray grass grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall. The sickle shaped stalks grow in small clumps that are strong and tough.

When mature, the end of the stem eventually transforms into a medium-sized, grey flower.

During the early winter, it produces copious amounts of pollen, and after flowering, it is left with a handful of tiny grains.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
Several parts of the grass have medicinal properties.
