Burgundy Starflower

This short flower grows up to 5 inches (13 cm) tall. Its burgundy stem is thick and splits into 4 branching stems halfway up, and the small, orange-yellow leaves are thin with smooth edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and a pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.

Several medium-sized flowers grow along the length of the stem. The flowers are 10 cm (3.9 inches) wide, with crimson petals on the lower layer and orange petals decorated with purple dots on the inner layer. The central disk is cyan. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 34 curved petals. They are very delicate.

It has a delicate scent that smells like cheese, and it has a modest amount of pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird.
