Caramelus Succulent

This short caudiciform grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall. The very thick stem is moss green, and is dotted with small grey spines. The stumpy, brown trunk can grow to as much as 10 feet (3.0 meters) in diameter. Its gray branches trail down across the ground.

The toothed-edged, very narrow and elongated leaves are lilac and dark brown. They are sturdy, but take little effort to detach.

It is fast growing, taking 2 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with petals that are slate at the sides and violet at the center, grow at the top, reappearing once every 6 years. The flower head is shaped like a bowl with 30 tightly layered, round-tipped petals. It has an intensely strong scent that smells like chocolate.

The caudiciform's skin is thin, the violet flesh is rough, and the caramel sap is thin.
