Copper Fruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This short fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 71 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a flexible, straight trunk covered in thin, silky, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the very light wood is white.

The sparse amount of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with small bunches of tiny, 9 pointed leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are hazel and yellow.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of small, bronze blossoms with sickle shaped petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a delicate scent that smells like sugar.

In late autumn it produces , triangular fruit. The smooth silver skin is thin and edible when roasted; it is sweet and spicy, and the very soft lime flesh is salty and oily. The slate seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
