Crimson Moss

This red moss is commonly found growing in small clumps On rotten logs.
It is big, growing up to 7 inches (18 cm) tall. It forms in thin clumps and they are slow to spread and grow, and is extremely hardy.
When mature, emerald flame-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early autumn to release dozens of spores; it can cause allergic reactions.
