Brown Petalvine
Flower type: Annual (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This big flower grows up to 5.3 feet (1.6 meters) tall. Its yellow-green stem is very thick, and the large, olive and emerald leaves are dark yellow-green on the underside and are slender, pointed with serrated edges. The leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.
6 to 11 medium-sized flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 8 cm (3.1 inches) wide, with petals that are generally brown; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 55 petals. They detach easily.
It has an intensely strong scent that smells like soap, and it has very little pollen. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also visited by one species of insect in particular.
Their seeds have hallucinogenic properties.
