Bronzeberry

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 14 feet (4.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 34 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, twisting trunk covered in thick, smooth, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the very hard wood is black.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with large amounts of large, pleated leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either gold or aquamarine, with peach streaks.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of small, light brown blossoms with 6 oblong shaped petals. They detach easily and have a powerful scent that smells like a newborn baby.

In early winter it produces tiny, circular fruit. The fuzzy orange skin is thick and inedible, and the soft bronze flesh is bitter and syrupy. The bronze seed is tiny and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if cut.
It coexists peacefully with other plants.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
