Aquafruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in its leaves)

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 18 feet (5.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 59 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, curved trunk covered in very thick, rough, light brown bark, and inside, the very hard wood is mahogany-coloured.

The numerous branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with large amounts of small, very thick leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are indigo and dark orange.

In early spring, it produces dozens of small, brown blossoms with circular petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are sturdy and have an intense scent that smells like mango.

In early summer it produces tiny, circular fruit. The leathery light grey skin is stretchy and inedible, and the soft azure flesh is salty and sticky. The dark grey seed is large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is possible to grow it from cuttings.
It is suitable for making paper
