Crimson Spine Cactus
Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)This short cactus grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall. The wide stem is moss green, and is covered in thousands of fine, green, hair-like spines.
It is steady-growing, taking 10 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with petals that are blood red at the sides and crimson at the center, grow at the top, reappearing once every 6 years. The flower head is made up of several petals in raised layers. It has a strong scent that smells like lavender.
The cactus's skin is tough, the olive flesh is sticky, and the cyan sap is thin.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
It can survive a very long time without water.
It is difficult to cut through.
