Burgundy Moss

This burgundy moss is commonly found growing in small clumps In bogs.
It is small, growing up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. It forms in thin clumps and they are slow to spread and grow, and is overwhelmingly delicate.
When mature, emerald cylindrical capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early summer to release dozens of spores; it does not cause many allergic reactions.
