Burgundy Conifer

Shrub type: Coniferous (Stores water in its leaves)

This big shrub grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 169 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has dozens of sturdy, twisting stems covered in paper-thin, knobbly, burgundy bark, and the wood inside is burgundy.

The branches trail down across the ground with dozens of twigs that and are covered with thick bunches of tiny, stiff, pointed, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in cream, red and crimson varieties, flexible and covered in fine hairs.

It produces a thick sheet of small, slate flowers with 3 pointed petals. They are sturdy and have a weak scent that smells like ashes. In late summer it forms largebright orange, tough-shelled seeds.


It is very resistant to fire damage.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
