Copperfruit Tree

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 16 feet (4.9 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 35 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a wide, angular trunk covered in thick, knobbly, dark green bark, and inside, the flexible wood is copper-coloured.

The abundance of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with sparse amounts of miniature, stiff, pointed leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are peach at the bottom and dark orange with dark brown streaks at the top.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of large, gentle red blossoms with slender, pointed petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have no scent.

In mid-autumn it produces , slender, 5 pointed fruit. The fuzzy dark brown skin is tough and inedible, and the slightly crunchy azure flesh is sour and very juicy. The white seed is very large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.
