Copperfruit Tree

This short fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 52 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, curved trunk covered in rough, brown bark, and inside, the dense wood is burgundy-brown.

The small handful of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with very large amounts of large, flame-shaped leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are purple and bronze.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of large, pink blossoms with sickle shaped petals. They are very delicate and have an intensely strong scent that smells like freshly washed clothes.

In early summer it produces , 2 pointed fruit. The waxy slate skin is thin and inedible, and the very soft copper flesh is spicy and syrupy. The red seeds are large and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
