Caramel

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This small caudiciform grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall. The very thin stem is red, and is covered in thick sheets of flexible caramel spines. It has a twisting, very thick, red trunk atop a thick clump of ridged, exposed roots. The branches are narrow and red and are short, rigid and upright.

The ripped-edged, very thick leaves are generally bright yellow. They are flimsy, and take little effort to detach.

It is steady-growing, taking 3 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with alternating petals of dark grey and subtle purple, with a slate central disk, grow at the top, reappearing once every 5 years. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 50 curved petals. It has a soft scent that smells like citrus.

The caudiciform's skin is thin, the dark red flesh is sticky, and the caramel sap is thin.

It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
