Pink-Red Winding Flower

This modest-sized flower grows up to 2.0 feet (61 cm) tall. Its pink-red stem is wispy and splits into 3 branching stems three quarters of the way up, and the huge, gray-green leaves are broad, flat with tattered edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

Hundreds of giant flowers grow in a bunch at the end of the stem. The flowers are 4 cm (1.6 inches) wide, with petals that are white on the underside and grey on the top. The flower head is shaped like a sphere made up of 11 widely spaced, round-tipped petals. They fall easily.

It has a strong scent that smells like perfume, and it has excessive amounts of pollen; it can can cause allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator.
