Copperwood

This big tree grows up to 68 meters (223.1 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 269 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a branched, wavy trunk covered in rough, yellow bark, and inside, the dense wood is copper-coloured.

The abundance of branches are short stubs and are covered with large amounts of crispy, huge, fan-like leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are caramel and turquoise.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of giant, black blossoms with many layers of petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like old books.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, olive, shelled seeds.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.
