Red Velvet

This big caudiciform grows up to 84 feet (25.6 meters) tall. The very narrow, elongated stem is red, and is dotted with small silver spines. The stocky, orange trunk can grow to as much as 84 feet (25.6 meters) in diameter. Its silver branches are very long and slender.

The toothed-edged, very narrow and elongated leaves are violet on the sides and olive at the center. They are frail, and detach easily.

It is steady-growing, taking 3 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with petals that are light yellow on the underside and magenta on the top, grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a sphere made up of dozens of tightly layered, narrow petals. It has a delicate scent that smells like onion.

The caudiciform's skin is very thick, the subtle green flesh is smooth, and the dark grey sap is thin.
