Bronzevine

Flower type: Perennial (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.5 feet (46 cm) tall. Its blood red or lilac stem is very thick and straight with a curved tip, and the huge, olive and caramel leaves are spear shaped with smooth edges. The leaves grow from the base and are the same length as the stem.

Around 70 large flowers grow in drooping bunches like grapes. The flowers are 7 cm (2.8 inches) wide, with each petal a slightly different shade of bronze. The flower head is largely flat with 34 widely spaced round-tipped petals. They are very delicate.

It has a mildly strong scent that smells like alcohol, and it has excessive amounts of pollen; it can cause severe allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator, but is enjoyed by several specific types of insect.

The leaves are bitter, but very healthy.
It is possible to grow it from cuttings.
