Copper

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 39 years. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has dozens of sturdy, slanted stems covered in thick, silky, dark green bark, and the wood inside is black with white speckles.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright with dozens of twigs that and are covered with copious amounts of huge, wispy, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are copper and white, tough and smooth.

In late spring it produces balls of large, purple blossoms with heart-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have an overpowering scent that smells like alcohol.

In late winter wide fruits ripen. The fuzzy cream skin is tough and edible when boiled; it is sweet, and the slightly crunchy dull purple flesh is salty and sticky. The light brown seed is large and sits at the top of the fruit.
